Heber Public Utility District's Annual Fall Fiesta Celebrating "Dia De Los Muertos" Saturday, October 28, 2023
Heber Public Utility District [HPUD] has invested over $30,000 on an annual basis (surpassing
$42,000 last year) toward what is known as the Heber Fall Fiesta. Each year, HPUD and its team of
employees, volunteers and community-minded individuals produce an amazing Fall Fiesta as a
contribution to our cherished community of Heber. HPUD makes no profit from this event and any
funds that come in as a result of the event go directly to the Fall Fiesta budget.
This year, after careful review of our annual budget and based on community member feedback, HPUD
decided to discontinue any financial contribution from our Water and Wastewater funds and
significantly scale back the cost of the Fall Fiesta, cutting our budget by more than half. This
decision was made in order to protect the future, financial stability of the District.
During a recent Board of Directors meeting, Proyecto Heber [PH] representatives attended and asked
for clarification on event schedule, facility use and event details. The Board President directed
the HPUD General Manager, to contact PH staff and coordinate. This direction was not sufficient for
PH staff. Unfortunately, PH staff was unwilling to meet with HPUD staff to work on coordination, as
offered by HPUD Board. As the Board moved forward with its agenda, PH staff announced they would be
pulling the car show from the event, but would participate as a vendor. This decision was made by
Proyecto Heber, not HPUD. HPUD welcomes and encourages participation in the Fall Fiesta by any
local businesses and/or non-profit.
While it is unfortunate that Proyecto Heber has decided to no longer hold the car show in
conjunction with HPUD’s Fall Fiesta, the Heber Fall Fiesta will continue to be held on October 28,
2023. This year’s Fall Fiesta will include food, craft vendors, free carnival style games for
children, a parade, DJ, and Mariachi.

El Distrito de Servicios Públicos de Heber [HPUD] ha invertido más de $30,000 anualmente (superando los $42,000 el año pasado) en lo que se conoce como Heber Fall Fiesta. Cada año, HPUD y su equipo de empleados y voluntarios producen una increíble Fall Fiesta como contribución a nuestra querida comunidad de Heber. HPUD no obtiene ganancias de este evento y los fondos que ingresan como resultado del evento van directamente al presupuesto de Heber Fall Fiesta.
Este año, después de una revisión cuidadosa de nuestro presupuesto anual y basándose en los comentarios de los miembros de la comunidad, HPUD decidió descontinuar cualquier contribución financiera de nuestros fondos de agua y aguas negras y reducir significativamente el costo de la Fall Fiesta, recortando nuestro presupuesto a más de la mitad. Esta decisión se tomó para proteger el futuro y la estabilidad financiera del Distrito.
Durante una reunión reciente de la Junta Directiva, asistieron representantes de Proyecto Heber [PH] y pidieron aclaraciones sobre el cronograma del evento, el uso de las instalaciones y los detalles del evento. El Presidente de la mesa directiva ordenó al Gerente General de HPUD que se comunicara con el personal de PH y coordinara. Esta dirección no fue suficiente para el personal de PH. Desafortunadamente, el personal de PH no estaba dispuesto a reunirse con el personal de HPUD para trabajar en la coordinación. A medida que la Junta avanzaba con su agenda, el personal de PH anunció que retirarían la exhibición de autos del evento, pero que participarían como proveedores. Esta decisión fue tomada por Proyecto Heber, no por HPUD. HPUD da la bienvenida y fomenta la participación en la Fall Fiesta de cualquier empresa local y/o organización sin fines de lucro.
Si bien es desafortunado que Proyecto Heber haya decidido ya no realizar la exhibición de autos junto con la Fiesta de Otoño de HPUD, la Fall Fiesta continuará celebrándose el 28 de octubre de 2023. La Fall Fiesta de este año incluirá comida, vendedores de artesanías, juegos estilo carnaval para niños, desfile, DJ y Mariachi.
